Old Masters

Old masters painting is one of the pillars of Artur Ramon Art. During our long career as professionals in the art world, we have specialized in old masters painting, particularly Spanish, Italian and Flemish painting from the 14th to the 18th century.

Over the years we have had the opportunity to enjoy true masterpieces, old master paintings by renowned artists such as Francisco de Goya, Luis Meléndez, Francisco de Zurbarán, Juan de Valdés Leal, El Greco, Juan Bautista Maíno, Pedro de Camprobín, Corrado Giaquinto, Francisco Bayeu, José de Ribera, Cesare Fracanzano, Luca Giordano, Adriaen Isenbrant, among others.

Our objective as experts in old masters painting is to investigate lost identities or reveal erroneous attributions. We are fascinated by the discovery of the so-called sleepers, masterpieces that have fallen into oblivion and that, in collaboration with the best experts, we return to the course of art history. We investigate, research and study museum-level old masters painting in order to complete the catalogue of ancient masters and bring ignored works to light. At Artur Ramon Art, pieces of art require special care: in collaboration with restorers from each discipline, we return them to their original splendour and find their place in the art world.

We address both private collecting and public institutions such as national and international museums. In recent years we have sold artworks of old masters painting to the Prado Museum, the Museé du Louvre in Paris, the National Gallery in London or the Meadows Museum of Art in Dallas (Texas), the Hispanic Society in New York and the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art), among others.

In our art gallery in Barcelona, on the first floor of Carrer Bailèn 19, we present our latest acquisitions and occasionally hold exhibitions of old masters paintings.
